I’ve been reading through some of my old posts and realizing I need to be less excited and more coherent when I write on VideoGameDJ. So I think I’m doing good with this one, presented a Chiptune album by Tettix (formally known as Cicada). This album features prominate chiptunes artists Alex Mauer, Derris-Kharlan, Disasterpeace, Hélas Techne and Minusbaby for a rock solid street-fighter themed album. It’s a free download, so go get it!
vNES – Free, Open Source, Online Nintendo
I’ve got to say I think this is the most significant thing on VideoGameDJ so far, and it’s called vNES (short for Virtual Nintendo Entertainment System.) Written by Jamie Sanders under the Open Emulation Project, vNES is a Java powered website where you can play all your favorite NES games, from Zelda to Mario to Megaman, right in your web browser! No downloads, no installs, yes fun time distractions forever. I haven’t posted this since I discovered it on Thursday because everytime I open firefox it’s what happens. So what are you waiting for?
Play vNES!
The Chipophone!
DO WANT. Linus Akesson is so cool he built an 8-bit synthesizer inside an old electric organ. I’ve seen this organs all over the place in Ithaca, garages, salvo, street corners, but this has got to be the most totally rad use for one ever. Linus is from Sweden a country I don’t know much about but this video alone makes me want to. The Chipophone is awesome, and Linus has video game music skills with it, dropping into the Tetris theme and closing with a personal favorite from Megaman.
Final Fantasy Logos Explained
Ran across this post from GamesRader that hosts a nice collection of the Final Fantasy title art and some brief explanations of the characters depicted. A nice post for any FF or Video Game art fanatic.
