The Rokko Chan Soundtracks

If you haven’t had a chance to play the awesomely deep and surprisingly difficult flash game Rokko Chan, based off the classic MegaMan series, now is the time. Rokko Chan is a fan-made MegaMan game, with key change: the protagonist is a girl. Battle robot masters, gain new abilities, jump, shoot and dash your way to victory. What’s cooler? An epic, 64 track soundtrack/arrangement album with an all-star lineup.

Names like USK, Derris-Kharlan, FantomenK, Inverse Phase, Descendants of Erdrick, Zef, and even myself with help from Spamtron all lended their talents to remixes of Asagen’s original soundtrack for the flash game. Directed by the team at Nubuwo, this mega-sized 64 track Name-Your-Price album is not to be missed. Rokko Chan Soundtracks

halc – Hydrocity

Back in April I started a netlabel for my two favorite things, Chiptunes and Video Game music, called GameChops. Since then, it’s grown faster than I imagined, and today I am pleased to announce the release of a new, free album from the one and only halc.

halc is a composer, remixer and Overclocked Remix judge. His album, Hydrocity, seemlessly fuses chiptune, electro, dubstep, FM funk and jazz. Halc writes:

“Inspired by such visionary minds as Joshua Morse, P Villa, and Savant, this album has everything from chiptune-influenced electro and dubstep to ambient beats, FM funk and jazz fusion, delightfully blended and compiled into a 40-minute package. The album also features an arrangement of the ever-popular ‘Hydrocity Zone’ music from Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and guest appearances by fellow OC ReMix legends Level 99 and WillRock.

Noisia brought on to do music for the new Devil May Cry

Dubstep/Electro trio Noisia from the Netherlands have been brough on to do the soundtrack for the Capcom’s new Devil May Cry game. Here’s what they had to say:

“Its been an awesome experience working with Ninja Theory on the game. We had great freedom but were also bound by certain criteria typical in the game world, these are challenging boundaries (for example; consistency in sonics over 180 minutes of music) but also lots of space in terms of dynamics & progression and instrumentation, being able to create soundscapes without having to worry about holding the attention of a dancefloor. Also, their music director was great to work with, good vibes. It’s great when you get to play to your strengths. And the game kicks ass.” – Noisia
