Sup y’all? =) President Hoodie from Chiptunes = WIN here with a special announcement! Namely, it’s time for….

Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 4

Submissions are now wide open to all chipartists interested in trying for a slot at this year’s 51 track roster!

Featuring 8 different judges (4 returning & 4 new) from across the chipscene, the end result of this one should be a helluva thing!

And, of course, back to master the final product once again will be everyone’s favorite video game dj, Dj CUTMAN!

The chiptune collective and compilation series Chiptunes = WIN has just put out their latest volume, with a whopping 51 TRACKS from chiptune musicians from around the world. I have the pleasure / challenge / nightmare of mastering these tracks together for the volume’s release, it was epic and I’m very happy with how it all turned out.

Chiptunes = WIN: Volume 2 open for submissions!!!

YUP. You read that header correctly:

 

IT’S TIME FOR CHIPTUNES = WIN VOLUME 2, PEOPLE.

 

And by volume 2 I mean the true sequel to the wide open, ALL chipartists invited, worldwide, monster compilation that we unleashed on the chipworld last summer.

Yup. That’s right. Open to EVERYBODY. And the submission deadline isn’t until June 17th, so you’ve ALL got plenty of time. ;)

It’s damn hard to believe that it’s been nearly a year since this whole ChipWIN compilation business got started. And I can’t think of a better way to celebrate it than with this.

aivi & surasshu | The Black Box

aivi & surasshu - The Black Box - coverUbiktune’s new release has me in awe. We’ve covered some of this netlabel’s other releases in the past, but nothing has quite struck at a chord  with me like this release (oh man, that was a music pun… someone summon brentalfloss)

The Black Box is a collaborative album from two artists, pianist Aivi and chiptune programmer Surasshu. Together they’ve woven a beautiful ten track album. What makes this really special is comic artist Diana Jakobsson has illustrated a gorgeous comic book for the album. The fusion of art, music and storytelling is wonderful, and nothing short of inspiring.

Download the release from Ubiktune or Bandcamp right now. As far as progressive chiptune music goes, this one sets new heights for the growing scene. Bravo!
