Joshua Morse returns to GameChops with a direct sequel to his 2013 smash hit Castlevania album VLAD. The original VLAD hit #1 on the Bandcamp All-Genres chart for October 2013. VLAD II seeks to pick up where the original EP left off, with four new jazz-inspired EDM bangers. A huge Chiptune show was held at this year’s MAGFest. The show featured some of the hottest chiptune performers, including Danimal Cannon, Trey Frey, and Jake “Virt” Kaufman. Chiptune netlabel Chiptunes = WIN teamed up with the crew from Philadelphia’s Chiptune event 8Static to host a Chiptune concert on MAGFest’s main stage. MAGFest is The Music and Gaming Festival, a non-profit company that hosts video game music events across the United States.

This weekend was Philadelphia’s second annual 8Static Festival featuring some of the best chiptune musicians on the continent. Acts include Gameboy heavyweights Danimal Cannon and Trey Frey, and chiptune pioneers Trash80 and Cheap Dinosaurs. A personal highlight of mine was Radlib, who closed out day one.
