Chipocrite is one of my all-time favorite Chipmusicians. Combining sharp composing skills with a strong sense for the Nintendo Gameboy’s sound capabilities, Chipocrite brings an awesomely full sound out of his LSDJ powered instrument. Whether he’s playing his catchy original tunes, super-fun covers or accompanying his gameboy with bass guitar, Chipocrite’s live performances and recordings alike stack up to some of the best Chipmusic out there.
If you haven’t heard Electric Children it’s time to change that. Electric Children has taken Chipmusic to a new level (no gamer puns intended, seriously) with dancefloor smashing mixing and arranging skills. Utalizing two Nintendo Gameboys and LSDJ software, Electric Children creates House, Electro and Dancehall style music with incredible detail and technique. To put it simply, Electric Children rocks.
Download his EP for free or kick him a few bucks for a wealth of bonus material over at Bandcamp. You can also download even more of his music over on 8BitCollective
This is a Nintendo Gameboy, the weapon of choice for most Chiptuners. The 1989 device (model DMG-001) is hailed for the nostalgic feel and tone of it’s sound. Sometimes people modify these gameboys, to make them much, much doper. YouTube will tell us more.
