MAGfest may be over, but GameChops is just heating up! This new release is a huge milestone, Overclocked Remixer bLiNd has created TEN remixes based on games from the Nintendo Entertainment System; Final Fantasy, Mario Bros, Castlevania and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to name a few! I’ve been listening to bLiNd’s music for nearly a decade, it is a great honor to have worked with him to release this album. Some of you may remember my bLiNd Trance mix from back in 2010, which showcased my appreciate for bLiNd’s music.
NESteryears is a licensed remix album thanks to a collborative effort between GameChops and Joypad Records.
The TRIFORCE of BASS
The TRIFORCE of BASS is a collection of 3 EPs spanning a variety of games from The Legend of Zelda series. As varied as the games are, so are the producers on this EP. Mykah is a DJ from Liverpool UK, bringing a tribal, moobah and drum’n’bass influences. dj-Jo is a FL Studio producer from Florida who wilds the heaviest synths and intense drum production. Dj CUTMAN and Spamtron remix and remaster their classic EP Bagu and the Riverman with DJ friendly edits with a new level of clarity in the mix.
The TRIFORCE of BASS spans multiple generations of Zelda music, from the original Overworld theme, to The Palace theme from Zelda II and the Dungeon from A Link to the Past. Other tracks are inspired by Link’s Awakening, Wind Waker, and Skyward Sword.

OCRemix: 25 Year Legend
A little slow on the uptake of this fine album from OCRemix, “25 Year Legend” is a collection of Zelda-inspired songs by some on indie gaming’s greatest composers. People like Disasterpeace, Joshua Morse, Big Giant Circles, MisfitChris, and SoulEye all contribute stunning arrangement in their trademark styles. This album stands out to me as a one of the finest examples of how a diverse set of genres can feel through cohesive thanks to a strong theme. The music of The Legend of Zelda is powerful on its own, in the hands of so many talented composers it truly becomes magic.
