VLAD II: Castlevania Remix EP by Joshua Morse and Danimal Cannon

Joshua Morse returns to GameChops with a direct sequel to his 2013 smash hit Castlevania album VLAD. The original VLAD hit #1 on the Bandcamp All-Genres chart for October 2013. VLAD II seeks to pick up where the original EP left off, with four new jazz-inspired EDM bangers. VLAD II features guitarist Danimal Cannon on tracks 3 and 4, Dan is best known for his work with Armcannon and Metroid Metal. Listen to trracks from VLAD II and VLAD below:

VOIA & Glass Islands – Moving [In-Depth Review]

VOIA and Glass Islands teamed up to create an original and evocative cyberpunk EP, Moving. Moving consists of three tracks with vocals by VOIA and serve more like chapters in a story, rather than three individual songs. Prelude, Moving, and Running, all revolving around a unifying theme of momentum, create a sonic backdrop that evokes the vision of a sprawling cyberpunk metropolis. Best Post Rock Chiptune Fusion Bands

Post Rock is a term that appeared somewhere in the 90s for bands who use guitars and drums but throw out all the other conventions of “rock music”. They use guitars to create delicate, moody compositions that don’t follow the rigid structures of normal rock. You’ve probably heard post rock whether you realize it or not. It’s often features in the background of TV show and movies. Think of it as rock music you can listen to while studying for a test or writing code.

The melodic content of this style merges very well with Chiptunes. Here’s some great bands that capture the spirit of the classics while merging them with the intense brooding of post rock.

The Revengineers

The Revengineers top my list of excellent post-rock chip bands. They use an NES to provide melodic lines over their amazing guitars and stand-out drums. The Revengineers rock the hardest of all these bands. They’re great live and have never relased a bad track in my opinion.
