It’s rare an album comes along that gets me as excited as this one. Chiptune musician Rushjet1 has re-created the entire soundtrack to MegaMan 3. The result is over 45 minutes of fresh Megaman chiptunes. It must have been a huge undertaking, re-creating over 30 tracks including Wily’s Castle from the Gameboy version, but the result is an epic, wonderful collection from one of my all time favorite Megaman games.

Mykah – Kirby’s Bassface
Today marks the second GameChops release for UK-based video game remixer Mykah. His first was a 5 track bass-music tribute to Zelda as part of The Triforce of Bass, he now turns his attention to a (literally) lighter character, Kirby.
Kirby’s Bassface is a five track EP exploring music from the Kirby series in Mykah’s high energy style. Source material stems from the earlier games, themes from Kirby’s Dreamland for NES and Kirby’s Super Star for SNES make up the album. Originally composed by Jun Ishikawa for Nintendo, Mykah has made these tunes all his own. Get the album now!
Kirby’s Bassface is licensed for Nintendo by JoyPad Records. Those who pay to download the album are directly supporting Mykah and licensed remix projects like this.

8-Bit Beastie: A Chipmusic Tribute To The Beastie Boys
Behold, a free Chiptune Beastie Boys tribute album. Featuring Chip’s Challenge, Square Therapy, MyLifeIsPixels, Pixel8ter and more, this album samples original Beastie vocals and features new chip arrangements. I’m sure MCA is saying “that’s dope” up in hip hop heaven.

Perelandra Records – Tide
Netlabel Perelandra Records has released a free compilation of Chiptune fusion music, taking electronic and chip elements and mixing them with organic instruments, vocals, and other soundscapes. The album features tracks from downtempo to jazz to alt rock electronic; Tide is a diverse pallet of sounds to fit your fancy. A personal favorite of mine is the track Famicom Blues by Positive Infinity, a funky tune with clean electric guitar, chiptune arpeggios and a soaring square lead. Beautiful!
Perelandra Records is also home to Daniel Capo, the artist who’s album OST we covered back in May.
