578468564-1Chiptune pioneers 8 Bit Weapon and ComputeHer have released a compliation of the best tracks from over a decade in chipmusic! This Los Angeles based duo has been instrumental in the popularizing of chiptune music in both recorded format and live performance. Working together as 8Bit Weapon, Seth & Michelle have created their unique sound and powerful use of antique hardware.

Operating on her own, Michelle is ComputeHer, having released two full length albums Modemoiselle and Data Bass. And if that’s not enough, 8Bit Weapon also has a 56 track compilation available on Bandcamp!

This is not to be confused with Dj CUTMAN’s Chiptopia mixtape, which shares the same name. Both Cutman and 8Bit Weapon arrived at the name independently, but it was 8 Bit Weapon who first released this song with that name. This 8bit Weapon compilation is brand new for 2013 and features the best songs from 8Bit Weapon’s and ComputeHer’s incredible catalog! Mykah – Kirby’s Bassface

Today marks the second GameChops release for UK-based video game remixer Mykah. His first was a 5 track bass-music tribute to Zelda as part of The Triforce of Bass, he now turns his attention to a (literally) lighter character, Kirby.

Kirby’s Bassface is a five track EP exploring music from the Kirby series in Mykah’s high energy style. Source material stems from the earlier games, themes from Kirby’s Dreamland for NES and Kirby’s Super Star for SNES make up the album. Originally composed by Jun Ishikawa for Nintendo, Mykah has made these tunes all his own. Get the album now!

Kirby’s Bassface is licensed for Nintendo by JoyPad Records. Those who pay to download the album are directly supporting Mykah and licensed remix projects like this.

A couple hours of early, the new GameChops album is released!

Gombette is a collection of tracks inspired by the Super Mario Role Playing game Super Mario RPG, and the Paper Mario series. Five tracks in migrating styles of house, electro, and chillout. It’s certainly a soundtrack for adventuring.

Just who is the Doni character, precisely?
Doni is a Canadian producer who’s music traverses genre lines. Influenced by electro, dubstep and chillout, Doni’s sound continues to evolve with each new production.

Fancy Jacket Weather

A bit late on this post, but this season is just getting started. I released a new mix recently, a progressive set of chiptune, trap, electro and house music. I thought of the changing weather, starting out the mix with hot tracks from the end of summer, gradulating moving up in tempo and down in energy. It kind of reminds me of the cold fronts of air blowing in. Some of the chiptune tracks are from none other than Brandon L Hood’s Chiptunes=WIN compilations, which I mastered, so I had the good fortune of working with the uncompressed tracks. Truth be told, the Electric Children and Skip Cloud tracks contained within this mix are exclusive, i remastered them to specificly suit their place in the mix.
