On Saturday September 4th in ITHACA, NY, Dj CUTMAN returns to WildFire Lounge for a night of rock-awesome chiptunes and dance heavy video game remixes. If you’re in upstate don’t miss this killer show.
NetherRealms Studios, formerly WB Games Chicago formerly Midway Chicago, kontinue to make me interested in Mortal Kombat again with the release of some new screen shots as well as a kouple kharacter announcements. Â The new game is kalled Mortal Kombat, which should tell you that the kreators are aiming to take the series back to its gory roots. The two newest kombatants to join the roster are Cyrax and Kitana. They are joining an, already, impressive list of fighters including: Shao Kahn, Raiden, Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Nightwolf, Mileena, Kung Lao, Sektor, and Reptile. Â This list is far from the final roster, so you kan still expect to see Scorpion and perhaps some new faces to join the old. After releasing 3D MK games since Mortal Kombat 4 and the toned down T-rated violence of Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe, Mortal Kombat is finally returning to glorious, gory 2D. The addition of a super meter and tag battles will bring new life to the series that will make it feel right at home next to Super Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs Capcom 3. As the game komes kloser to release more solid information about the new systems will be shared.
If you prefer you Mortal Kombat action non-polygonal then I have some exciting news for you too! ShopTo.net recently was the second online shop to have a listing for a Mortal Kombat Arcade Compilation (Kompilation?) for the PS3 and 360. According to rumors it will release before the end of the year at a budget price. It will include Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to feel the itch to start upper cutting some fools onto spikes.
Hardcore Mega Man fans know that the first Mega Man game, released in 1987 for the Nintendo Entertainment System has only six bosses (aka ROBOT MASTERS.) Each game following had eight, displayed in the famous 3×3 grid that inspired my DjCUTMAN website. Rumor speculates that the first game did intend to have eight bosses, but two were cut because it was the 80’s when people did crazy things for no reason (not much has changed, huh.) Well the nerdtacular nerdstorians over at The Mega Man Network have uncovered this guy, BOND MAN, a robot with the powers of glue. Sure, not as threatening as slitheringly useless Snake Man, or the logistically impossible Wood Man, but I could imagine how a robot with the powers of adhesion could somehow cause a threat to our relentless robot hero. not really.
The materminds over at themmnetwork.com are also responsible for uncovering epic Mega Man phenomena such as The Capcom Hand and The Mysterious Wily Pipe. To think, without these noble crusaders of retro game information I might actually be productive right now.
On August 7th 2010 Chip-Con International had their first event, REBOOT, a concert at Little Field, NYC featuring five rock-awesome chiptune artist and one killer VG.
We attended the show, and it was very cool. It was a great experience to meet some of my Chiptune Heros (please Harmonix, don’t make this into a game) and see them throw down live.
I’m consistently blown away by the raw power and crunch behind the DMG Gameboy. Other artists used tools like laptop computers, effects pads, and PSPs.
REBOOT was the first in a series of international chiptune concerts. To get an idea of what when down, check out this video courtesy of DEADBEATBLAST.
