Triple Triad: Mykah’s EDM Final Fantasy Tribute

Triple Triad is now available from GameChops
Triple Triad is now available from GameChops
Final Fantasy is widely known for exceptional characters, superb storytelling, and memorable music. The music is so loved that many groups have adapted it for live concerts, including five distinct tours over the past decade. Today, the team of electronic dance musicians at GameChops have released “Triple Triad,” a twelve-track remix album playing tribute to Final Fantasy and the music of series composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Spearheaded by UK producer Mykah, Triple Triad takes inspiration from three classic games in the Final Fantasy series, VI, VII, and VIII. To many, these games were an introduction into the series. To others, these games serve as a fond memory of when story, mood and music took precedent over graphics, hardware and spectacle.

Triple Triad contains a multitude of genres and styles to fit any electronic appetite; styles range from latin dancehall to drum ‘n bass to house and dubstep. Mykah shows his versatility as a producer, while the compositions of Mr. Uematsu are proven, yet again, to be powerful in any context. Whether you’re a long-time fan of the series or a casual listener of electronic music, Triple Triad is something special.

Listen and download it today from GameChops.

Animal Crossing, the beloved video game franchise from Nintendo is getting its first full-length remix treatment be remixers Ben Briggs and ectogemia. The new album K.K. and Friends is their first collaboration, and is professionally mastered and released by GameChops.

Animal Crossing featured a unique approach to its music; depending on what time you played the game different tunes would play. K.K. and Friends contains nine cover songs found in the Animal Crossing series, organized by the time of day they’re presented in the game. Starting with an upbeat “Bright and Early”, taking us through “Rush Hour,” a “Rainy Day,” finally settling with the mellow, “Moonlit Memories.” The progressive arrangement and polished mixing makes it clear that Ben Briggs and ectogemia are two promising young musicians in the vibrant video game remix scene.

The album runs over a half an hour long, and is currently available for pre-order from KKandFriends.com. The album releases on June 9th, the same day as Nintendo’s newest game in the Animal Crossing series, New Leaf.

GameChops is the first record label to specialize in electronic video game remixes with high production quality and licensing.

Memories of MAGFest Concerts: Dj CUTMAN

This year at MAGFest, I had the distinct pleasure of attending a concert featuring the master of mastering, the man behind the first ever dedicated VGM music label, the one, the only, Dj CUTMAN! (insert fanfare of choice here). OH WOW! THAT’S THE GUY WHO RUNS THIS SITE! HOW NEATO!

This year’s MAGFest was one to remember for CUTMAN, because not only did he absolutely kill it on the main stage throughout his entire packed-house performance, but he also announced that he be taking a bit of a hiatus from doing shows as Dj CUTMAN in order to concentrate on Gamechops. Since its inception in 2012, his Gamechops label has produced a number of mind-blowingly awesome VGM albums, and rest assured, many more are on the way, but, y’all knew that already.

There was one other thing about his performance that was interesting though, because somebody, who looks NOTHING like the Dj CUTMAN we know and love, showed up on stage to get the show started…and of course, all photos are credited to the lovely Tron Bonne (she does a lot of cover art for CUTMAN, and her art rules so you should check it out).
