Cave Story remix by Dj CUTMAN

I really like this song. I was working on another project but couldn’t stop listening to this piece over and over, so I decided to slow it down, and give it some neo-soul drums and groove. What I like the most about this beat is that I doubled the sample up an octave, hooked it into a sidechain compressor to give it a sort of airy presence. You can hear it solo’d in the drop at 1:35

Handheld SNES

Video Game Accessory maker and wholesaler HyperKin is creating a hand held system that plays SNES cartridges. On top of that, it features two ports for the use of real Super Nintendo controllers, a huge plus for the old school gaming fanatic. The device is known as the SupaBoy and is due for a release soon. The console features:

+ Plays all American SNES cartridges, not PAL or Japanese

+ Weighs 318g

+ 3.5 inch LCD screen

+ A/V sterio output to hook up to a television

+ Two Super Nintendo controller ports on the device to play with friends

Hyperkin is the same company that made my personally favorite possession, the Retron3, a hybrid system that plays regular NES, SNES and Sega Genesis games. I bought mine through Amazon.

Awesome Gameboy Mods

This is a Nintendo Gameboy, the weapon of choice for most Chiptuners. The 1989 device (model DMG-001) is hailed for the nostalgic feel and tone of it’s sound. Sometimes people modify these gameboys, to make them much, much doper. YouTube will tell us more.

And this guy just owns it:

The Icarus Kid LIVE at Video Games Live 1-22-11

Good friend and Video Game Remixes The Icarus Kid recently played Video Games Lives in Seattle. Video Games Live is described (on their website) as “An immersive event created by the game industry featuring the best game music performed by top orchestras and choirs combined with synchronized lighting, video, live action and audience interactivity.” Holy shit that sounds cool. Here’s the video:
